(A CHILDISH DREAM)
she went into the bathroom
she sat down on the toilet
she did what she was there for
and reached for the paper
but the paper smelled like lemons
and she couldn't help herself
she knew she had to eat it
and it tasted so sweet
then she stood up to see what she had done
and just a behind the toilet
a tiny cherry candy
she knew she had to eat it
she finally flushed the toilet
walked over to the sink
but as the water spun a sound rose up
she looked and she was sucked in
and I was nowhere near
but I saw what had happened
and my little friend on my shoulder
showed me another one
in a different bathroom
a man sat down on the toilet
he did what he had to do
and reached for the paper
but the paper smelled delicious
so good he couldn't help herself
he knew he had to eat it
and it tasted even better
stood up to see what she had done
and just a behind the toilet
two cherry candies one stem and leaf
and he knew they too would taste so sweet
gobbled it down and flushed the toilet
walked over to the sink
but as the toilet flushed a sound rose up
he glanced over and disappeared
I was in the library
but knew what to do
my inch-high friend said he couldn't come
but he told me not to eat them
so I went into the bathroom
I needed to use the toilet
I did my business cautiously
and reached for the toilet paper
and it sure did smell like lemons
I really wanted to eat
I could hardly help myself
but I wiped and through it down
I stood up knowing what I would see
and there behind the toilet
a tiny cherry candy like the abercrombie symbol
I reached for it but stopped myself
-stepped on it and flushed the paper down-
and I walked over to the sink
hoping that i'd done enough
but as the water spun round a sound blared out
so I slammed the lid down and new that I had won
so I saved the world
me and my family outside
smiling and waving at a bird
that my tiny friend turned into
and only I knew
that it was him
and only I knew
THAT I HAD SAVED THE WORLD!

it's the time
don't worry your sleepy head
it's just the time
don't rise a blink or waste a wink
it's but the time
and the time is going now
the time is going now
into the open room where daddy sits
it's just the time
"i'm thirsty and i haven't got
the time to drink
or even put on
my thirsty sign"
there went the time
don't worry your sleepy head
it's just the time
don't rise a blink or waste a wink
it's but the time
and the time is going now
the time is going now
into the open room where daddy sits
it's just the time

a new-born babe is paranoid
an older man inspects
it seems his diaper's wet, but
it's only condensation
there's a war machine
but it hasn't worked in years
it's been converted
into a mobile
father's smoke in his eyes
mother kisses the bandages
brothers and sisters tend to the bedside
but the terror prevails
a q-tip dug far into the eardrum
the tip never came out
the baby's bleeding now
everyone's screaming but no one calls 911
and ten years later
everyone's angry
now the babe is a young man
and he carries his papers
though he disagrees
with his given name
the boy is a babe still
his diaper is wet still
the spaces he travels
he handles on four feet
the women he meets
remind him of mother
and the men that he meets
remind him of father
and the obstacles he comes against
he crawls under
every chance that he gets
he cries into the toilet
and twenty years later
he's so angry
"I wanna shoot myself in the head
because i'm angry
I wanna throw these clothes on the floor
because i'm messy
I wanna stand in place
because I'm sorry
I wanna wet myself
because I hardly... can.. make myself... (stand)

she's still warm (she's still warm)
she is still so warm
she is warm (she is warm)
she is still so warm
after all of the cables did
fall through her neighborhood
still she remained
so impeccably warm
she was worn (she was worn)
she was worn by the baggage claim
worn (she was worn)
she was bored of the escapades
like a tuned piano
she clung the animated
arrangements of
tullips and flow'rs
and hours and watching the rain
as the planes landed in the lake
as the pilots (and co-pilots) step out
of the cockpit and fall in the murk
she was calm (she was calm)
when her husband died
he left his ashes by her side
and she scrolled
and she told no one how she
spoiled
when she would not answer
the door
and the puddles began to
circle, immersing her
leather purse suitcase
the curdling silence
began to creep over her brain
kept tight to the
transmitter radio
he wore (he wore)
a suit made of flowers
he wore (he wore)
the shirt that she made he made him
he soared (he soared)
and he swore (he swore)
to the same gods as gods before
it's a grave bouquet
but mother likes it that was
it was a great romance
crescendo-ing in a dance

raceless, faceless gentle soul
there was a reckless call to office
from the bad boys in plaid and the kids in school
just a touch of color
on this old worn line
he was just a mess through this whole wedding
tastless, wasted, timed and true
before he raised he glass to toast the wed
for the red run down his jagged suit
just a touch of color

this is just a list of things i think are important
it's important to spit in the mirror after you brush your teeth
it's important to visit the homes of people that you hardly know
it's important to see every different bathroom that you can
it's important to interact with your tattoos
it's important to think over when you want to wash your hands
it's important to take different walking routes to places you frequent
it's important spend a long time unhappy
it's important to hate yourself just a little bit
it's important to make up dialog you'd like others to say
it's important to give away things you cherish
it's important to listen to songs you don't like
it's important to let yourself get bored of your hairstyle
it's important to have enemies to look out for
it's important to look through other people's trash
it's important to use products designed for the opposite sex
it's important to have very painful injuries
it's important to say things to people that you know they won't like
it's important to sit in an uncomfortable posture as long as you can
it's important make up stories when you're in bed alone
it's important to wish you were doing something else
it's important to have unfulfilling sex
it's important to wear colors you don't think you look good in
it's important to undress quickly when you get the chance
and though it's been said too many times, it's really important to cry - and i wish i did it more

his nail paint chipped off
when his fingers his dropped into the bleach
in the bathtub he drawn a bath
of bleach to kill the leaches
stuck to his childlike figure
and four feet away his mother's
hand held camcorder captured
the last drink of her child's blood
but she taped over
the lake michigan vacation
unbeknownst to her
her memory was erasing
the enclosed room
became encased in fumes
and the hot bath water
felt like a frothing public pool
there was a large upright piano
the keys stained with flecks of nail paint
that no one ever seemed to play
in his entire childhood
but his mother would sing him songs
more the worse her tongue got
and they slept in front of the t.v.
beneath which somewhere the home movies collected dust
on a american wall calender
designed for 1998
she drawn out plans
to visit each of the great lakes
but the red paint
she'd used to circle the dates
melted and ran from
the bleach left brewing in the bath tub

person buried at the Maritime Archaic site at Port au Choix, Newfoundland, dating to about 2000 BC, was interred clothed in a suit made from more than 200 Great Auk skins, with the heads left attached as decoration.[50] Nearly half of the bird bones found in graves at this site were of the Great Auk, suggesting that it had cultural significance for the Maritime Archaic people.[51]

This was the male specimen "Incas," who died within a year of his mate "Lady Jane." Coincidentally, Incas died in the same aviary cage in which the last Passenger Pigeon, "Martha," had died nearly four years prior.[2] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carolina_Parakeet

he hit the ground running
she hit the ground and she fell and she stuck
he took to the freeway
and she stayed stuck to the ground of the parking lot
he took out a bi-i-ig loan
and she began to to deeeecay
they weren't no tourist trap couple
he landed on four feet
she had nine lives and they were all up
he exited the freeway
while she lie still with a sign in her mouth
he took out another big loan
that he would never pay off
and she zoned out
they weren't no tourist trap couple
they weren't no stage show couple
they weren't caged carriage couple
they weren't no age old couple
he hit the ground running
and he ran and he ran and he ran
she had no plan
aside from a slab of grass
and a lot of money
they weren't no tourism trap couple
they weren't no BBC couple
they weren't no caged parakeets
they weren't no trained chimpanzees
and so i'll hit the ground running
and i'll run and i'll run and i'll run
and you can do what you want
stay where you stay
and play with the notion of tourism
i'll take out my loans
without intention to repay
and you will decay

did the child see her shadow?
when she was carried over the threshold
did the groom chase the ball into the street?
did he look both ways
when he threw the bouquet?
was the bride elevated off her feet?
was the assistant really cut in half?
did the crowd really applaud?
was the magic wand ready for the honeymoon?
does the ice sculpture come back to life
after it melts away?
does the cake contain any cocaine or was i imagining?
was harmonica enough music
for the whole reception party?
did the army have to storm the limousine?
did the blues man catch the wink
that the bridesmaid gave him?
or did the blue jean dresses confuse him?
we're like a bus full of strangers
who all root for the same team
we're like a boat full of ex-cons
did the baby ever wake up
after he was sung to?
did the singer really need to quit the band?
did the schoolmarm attend the wedding?
did she bring a present from the registry?

pete nearly had a void

a faceless man
came into work
to take a nap
on the conveyor belt
nobody acknowledged
the man with no face
nobody knows
a man with no face

this machinewill force you to breath
i am just a guest in other people's reality
this belief
in ESP
will not work
every time
you try to hold me
remember i am just a guest in other people's reality
every breath
through these tubes
feels like work
fingerprints to the jail
I was there
but i am just a guest in other people's reality
love letters to the home
tears to the phone
but I am gone

I wore the cloak / I wore the mask
I met the men / I shook their hands
I tried to smile / and tried not to speak
da da da da da da da
I caught a glimpse of something refernced in a nightmare but nothing more
I thought I heard the magic flute sound in the distance but wasn't sure
But as far is time goes the hour is upon us
The most babies are born, and the most people die
when the sleepless are haunted by the lives unlived

night and dawn
when all the sleepless haunted
all you can hear is the sound of your own heart
see the ways your life should've gone

he's at it at again
why not he's drank all the paint

I stared for hours in the mirror but there was nothing there
but as far time goes the hour is upon us
it shall be here soon and we all must stay awake
it may claim your life / it may birth your babe
but until is wolf gone home
stay awake with me
till the sunlight kills the insects
and the cannibals gone home
and we'll draw the shades
and right the doors
and paint upon the windows
oh what an island this is
oh what an hour this has been
VERSE 2
I wore the cuff-links / I wore the black tux
tried to think sober / I tried to focus
But my head was weighed down by the wine
then your makeup was on my eyes
and your foot was in my mouth
and your bruise was on my head
and your birds were in my bed
and your friends were tearing at my skin
please leave
before the wolf detects your scent
or the schoolmarm points her pants
and we're all with the meat-eaters
sharing drinks and telling stories of inheritance
oh what a story this is
oh what an hour when
one second feels like an eternity
or be shot to death or sketches
if the wolf could hear you cries he would be
sad that he had fucked
if he had head your warmth tonight he would be
dried to death with marm
I wore the cloak / I wore the mask
I met the men / I shook their hands
I tried to smile / and tried not to speak
da da da da da da da
I caught a glimpse of something refernced in a nightmare but nothing more
I thought I heard the magic flute sound in the distance but wasn't sure
But as far is time goes the hour is upon us
The most babies are born, and the most people die
when the sleepless are haunted by the lives unlived
1:00
night and dawn
when all the sleepless haunted
all you can hear is the sound of your own heart
see the ways your life should've gone
1:44
voices live inside of the wires
in spite of the timing the
bed bug czar enjoys the window light
the creepy crawly
movable skin
he's at it at again
why not he's drank all the paint
1;59
3:00
